Was excited when I got to know that BASC has organised a one day trek to Huthridurga for 2 reasons.   1. I will be joining my buddies for the trek and 2.  I will be going for a long drive.

Suresh Gowda confirmed that he would be joining with Vinay & Harsha.    That was one more reason to join the trek.   This is my second visit to Huthridurga and a coincidence this time was with Raveendra's brother Nagendra who was leading us to the destination.

Weather was awesome, I set out with Suresh, Nagendra and Vinay to Sunkadakatte, our first stop.  We were joined by other fellow trekkers.  After having breakfast @ Darshini in sunkadakatte, 19 of us set out to Huthridurga Via, Magadi Town in 4 cars for a drive of 70 kms. https://goo.gl/maps/NhLUf

Hutharidurga fort was built by Kempegowda in the 16th century. Ruined fortifications are still visible on the two hillocks surrounding the village. It is believed to have been a seven tiered fort and is considered one among the nine "Durgas" (fortified hills)

around Bengaluru ("Nava Durgas"). It has a small temple dedicated to Shiva known as the Shakareshwara temple, a Nandi idol on the top of the hill and Anjaneya temple, midway.

This fort was used as a center of Kempegowda's administration during summer and there are structures that housed the war commander, soldiers and a stone umbrella that is said to have been used by Kempegowda himself. Wildlife includes a diversity of insects, birds and mammals, including bear, leopard and wild boar.

Covered the distance in 1.5 hours .   Parked our cars next to the brick factory and started ascending the peak.   Trek to the summit is welcomed by huge boulders.  One need to go through the bushes and shrubs with  presence of termite hills across the trek path .

This is a moderate to easy trek destination with 1 - 1.5 hours climb to the summit.   We were welcomed by camel shaped boulder at the beginning of the trek.

We were welcomed by Nandi before we entered the temple and the team rested before couple of photo sessions at the summit.

There was a team introduction . Introduction by Samrudh and Puru Chaudhary was awesome.   Shruti, Nagendra, Uma , Shanti Prasad, Suresh & Ashok shared snacks. Our empty stomach got some strength and we proceed further to have a look at Kempegowda's stone cot .

We had a team picture once we landed up on a plateau.     Once we scaled down, we headed towards Magadi for lunch, but 3 PM was not a good time to have food there so proceed further towards Bangalore.  Enroute we had sugar cane juice and tender coconut.

On reaching Bangalore, headed towards Nagarbhavi and entered Udupi Darshani to feed our stomachs before departing.

Over all it was an awesome trek and memories to cherish
